Darrell Leonard is a Grammy and W.C Handy award winning Los Angeles based trumpet player, composer, arranger, and producer . His work, has been featured on recordings by Taj Mahal, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Keb' Mo, B.B. King, The Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, and Jimmy Smith among others. Darrell has traveled the world performing with Taj Mahal, Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, Dr. John, Glenn Frey, Little Feat, and The Blues Brothers. His composing collaborations with T-Bone Burnett have included music for the Steppenwolf Theatre production of Bertolt Brechts' "Mother Courage and Her Children", "Tooth of Crime"for Sam Shepherd and original music and arrangements for the films "The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood" and "Cold Mountain". Eric Simonson's play "Carter's Way" featuring Darrell's music had it's world premiere in Kansas City in June 2005 and will be presented at Chicago's Steppenwolfe Theatre during its 2007-2008 season. Darrell's big band writing has been featured on Monday Night Football and ABC's "According To Jim" . As half of the Texacali Horns, whose CD "Texacali Horns" is now available, Darrell continues to be in demand as an arranger and trumpet player.
